KARACHI/DUBAI: On November 30, 2022, Indonesian Consul General in Karachi, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat has been the speaker at the 11th Annual Islamic Finance Expo and Conference organized By The Professionals Network at Marriott Hotel, Karachi.
The event was attended By Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Advisor, Mr. Ateeq Ur-Rehman, President & CEO Meezan Bank Limited, Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, President & CEO Bank Islami Pakistan Limited, Mr. Syed Amir Ali, Founder & CEO The Professionals Network, Mr. Mehmood Tareen, and 150 business leaders of Pakistan.
Dr June Kuncoro Hadiningrat appreciated the activities of the 11th Annual Islamic Expo and Conference for improving economic and business relations between Indonesia and Pakistan as the first and second largest Muslim country in the world. On the occasion, Indonesian Consul General in Karachi also said that Sharia Bank is one of the segments that has had global financial growth of more than 17% since 2009 and is the driving engine of Islamic financial development in the world.
In Indonesia, Bank Muamalat Indonesia as the first Shariah bank in Indonesia established since 1990. Estimated total assets of sharia banks in Indonesia reach more than US$ 45 billion. Meanwhile in Pakistan, State Bank of Pakistan issues first islamic banking license against Meezan Bank. The estimated total assets of sharia banks in Pakistan reach more than US$ 25 billion.
