The Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi has initiated and facilitated the establishment of Iqra University’s collaboration with 7 universities in Indonesia namely Al Azhar Indonesia University, Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Telkom University, UNDIKNAS University Bali, and the University of Udayana Bali since last November. As a form of realization of this plan, the leaders of Iqra University and the team visited the 3 largest cities in Indonesia namely Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali to sign the MoU directly on 2-8 December 2022.
On the first day of the visit (3/12), Prof. Dr. Wasim Qazi, President / Vice Chancellor of Iqra University signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Ir. Ade Jamal, Vice Rector IV for Information and Corporation of UAI was witnessed directly by Prof. Dr. Zaki Rashidi and other IU delegations as well as UAI vice-chancellors and faculty leaders. Virtually present UAI Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. Asep Saifuddin, M.Sc, and the Indonesian Consul General, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat.
Consul General Dr. June Kuncoro Hadingrat in his remarks expressed his high appreciation for this collaboration, he emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two largest Muslim countries in the world, especially starting with the collaboration of the young generation of the two countries with full support from universities. The Indonesian Consul General is committed to continuing to assist in the realization of cooperation between UAI and UI.
The Vice-chancellor of IU and the Chancellor of UAI have both agreed on a form of collaboration and its realization will begin early next year. In 2023, the two universities agreed that to jointly commemorate the 23rd anniversary, they will hold joint activities such as conferences, seminars, and student exchanges through scholarship schemes and teacher exchanges. In addition, they expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi for the initiative and support in uniting these two universities. Indonesia and Pakistan have quality educational institutions recognized by world rankings.
