Last night, dignitaries, sailing enthusiasts, and media representatives gathered at Dubai Offshore Sailing Club (“DOSC”) for the opening ceremony celebrating the 30th edition of the ARAMEX Dubai to Muscat Sailing Race (“Aramex D2M”).
The Aramex D2M, which is managed by DOSC in partnership with Oman Sail, begins today 4th February 2023, features 22 teams competing in one of the region’s most challenging keelboat races. Starting from Jumeirah, Dubai, sailors race to the finish line in Marina Bandar Al Rowdha, which is also an event partner, in Muscat, Oman, as they face a difficult journey through the Strait of Hormuz and across the Gulf of Oman.
The opening ceremony featured a number of exciting activities, discussions between the sailing organisations of the UAE, presentations by the UAE Sailing and Rowing Federation and handouts of racing gifts and remarks from sponsors such as Mohammed Al Obaidli, General Secretary of UAE SARF; Sheikh Ahmed, the President of UAE SARF; and Saeed Hareb, Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.
“Welcoming the 30th edition of the Aramex Dubai to Muscat Race is an exciting moment for DOSC and the region’s sailing community as well. We look forward to following the sailors as they battle the sea, and each other, to make it from Dubai to Muscat,” said David Worrall, the D2M Race Director. “We wish everyone a safe journey and look forward to celebrating together at the finish line!”
Attendees had the opportunity to meet and mingle with sailors, skippers, crew members and other distinguished guests.
