BOMO SWIM, a homegrown brand founded by British Nigerian UAE Resident Buky Ogunlaja advocates body positivity and inclusivity to empower and celebrate women with shape. The brand launches with a strong message – to celebrate your every curve and the innate beauty that is inside every woman.
This story began years ago while Buky was vacationing on a boat. “A number of women around me were wearing ill-fitted swimwear that constrained their curves, and didn’t do justice to their beautiful shapes”. All the pieces in the debut collection are designed to accentuate and flatter curves, from “the intentionality of the designs, down to the stitch placement and sustainable fabric, which has muscle control properties, providing additional ‘sculpt’ for the wearer,” added Buky. BOMO Swim also sells pieces separately, removing the frustration with conventional swimwear sets.
Buky’s passion and dedication lie at the forefront of the brand’s ethos and the guiding principle that women with shape should not have to compromise between fit, quality and aesthetics, which can be seen throughout the collection.
Buky recalls her childhood in the UK, where there was limited representation for women of different shapes, races and sizes. Years later, BOMO SWIM is an ode to her Nigerian and British heritage, featuring bold statement pieces with seamless silhouettes. Each BOMO Swim piece is uniquely designed to empower women regardless of race or colour.
