Sri Lankan Musical and Dance Program “Kanya” held at Arts Council during Pakistan Theater Festival

KARACHI: On the third day of the “Pakistan Theater Festival” held by the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, a program based on Sri Lankan traditional dance & Music Kanya was organized by the Sri Lankan dance group, in which the President of the Arts Council Muhammad Ahmad Shah, Consul General of Sri Lanka Jagath Abeywarna and Diplomats from different countries were present, well-known singer Ahsan Bari, Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabhashitha, Pakistani singer Sonia and Muneeb Khan created the magic of their voices, while in Sri Lankan dance group Chandana Wickramasinghe & The Dancers’ Guild performed “Leila May Leila”.

Heritage of Sri Lanka, Traditional Devadasi, Ridma Rata and drummed on Thammattam which was loved by the audience. Ahsan Bari performed a joint musical performance with Sri Lankan singer Sonal Prabhashita while Sonal Prabhashitha teamed up with Pakistani singer Sonia to steal the show by singing the world famous Pakistani song “Pasoori”.

On this occasion, President Arts Council Mohammad Ahmad Shah said that today Pakistan Sri Lanka friendship has completed 75 years, we are proud of Pakistan and Sri Lanka friendship, this Sri Lankan dance group will also perform in Islamabad and Lahore.

Consul General of Sri Lanka Jagath Abeywarna said, I am very happy, such a great program was organized in Arts Council Karachi, today we are celebrating Pak Sri Lanka diplomatic relations, President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah and his teams deserve congratulations. , you all made this event a success, at the end Sri Lankan national anthem was presented, later souvenirs and awards were distributed to Sri Lankan artistes.
