Consul General of Turkiye His Excellency, Cemal Sangu & Mrs Gulsen Sangu hosted reception to mark the 100th Anniversary of Proclamation of Turkiye at the Turkish Consulate General in Karachi.
The event was graced by Justice Maqbool Baqar, Chief Minister of Sindh and Mr Kamran Khan Tessori, Governor Sindh as Chief Guests. Other dignitaries included Brig (R) Harris Nawaz, Home Minister Sindh, Mr Younus Dagha, Minister for Revenue, Industries Sindh, Dr Syed Junaid Ali Shah, Minister for Sports, Culture, Sindh and senior members of Pakistan Navy.
Two celebrities Javed Sheikh Famous actor from Pakistan & renowned Turkish Star Abdel Rahman of famous Turkiye TV serial “Ertugrul” remained the main attraction of the participants.
H.E. Mr Cemal Sangu in his short speech praised the great leader Mustafa Kamal Ata Turk (late) and the continued Turkish leadership for leading Turkiye as an economic power to reckon with in the 21st century. He also threw light at the long brotherly relations between Turkiye and Pakistan that have similar stance on most of the major international events. He also sympathized with the Palestinians facing aggression at the hands of the apartheid Israeli regime. The video speech of HE Mr Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkiye was also played on the screen.
This was followed by ceremonial cake cutting performed by HE Mr Cemal Sangu, Governor Sindh, Chief Minister Sindh and Provincial Ministers present there.
The dignitaries on the occasion included HE Dr June Kuncoro, Consul General of Indonesia, Mr Odagiri, CG of Japan, Herman Herdynata, CG of Malaysia, Mr Hassan Nourian, CG of Iran, Mr Narut Soontarodom, CG of Thailand, Mr Jagath Abeywarna, CG of Sri Lanka, Mr Yi Sungo Ho, CG of Korea, Ms Sarah Mooney, British Dy High Commissioner, Mr Bakheet Ateeq, CG of UAE, Mr Nayef Alsulaiti, CG of Qatar, Mr Sami Al-Khanjari, CG of Oman, Mr Andrey Fedorov, CG of Russian Federation, Dr Rudiger Lotz, CG of Germany, Ms Manolya Senol, Dy CG of France, Ms Nguyen Thi Diap Ha, Head of Vietnam Trade Mission and several other diplomats and Honorary CGs.
Turkish Airlines very gracefully offered free air-tickets through lucky draw to mark the celebrations.
The grand finale of the event unfolded at a sumptuous buffet dinner, serving a delightful fusion of Pakistani, continental, and traditional Turkish cuisines, including the renowned Döner kebap, Lahmacun, Dolma, Meze, Börek, Menemen, Pilav and everybody’s favorite Baklawa. The gastronomic indulgence left guests with an unforgettable culinary experience.
To express gratitude and extend a piece of Turkiye to the attendees, each guest received a farewell gift bag containing delicious Turkish sweets, soft drinks and a T-shirt, thoughtfully sourced from Turkish manufacturers.
