KARACHI: On Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, in a momentous celebration that blended cultural richness with a commitment to inclusivity, the BINAE Education Foundation observed the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on at the Maritime Museum. The event coincided with the DX Sindh Cultural Day 2023 Family Festival, providing a vibrant backdrop for a day dedicated to recognizing the talents and potential of individuals with special needs under the theme of “Hathon mein Hath Liye”.
The distinguished presence of Dr. Essa, known for his impactful contributions to societal development activities, attended the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, he underscored the importance of fostering an inclusive society that values and empowers every individual, regardless of their abilities.
Ex MNA Kishwer Zehra, twice initiator of the bill on rights of PWDs in the National Assembley also graced the event as a special guest and highly appreciated the efforts of BINAE Education Foundation is skill development of the blind and visually impaired.
Distinguished Guests included Mr Kashif Shah, Chairman, Zaamin Group, Mr Asif Sumsum, Chairman ABAD, Ms Faryal Asif, President AF Schools, Ms Aaliya Sarim Burney Social Activist, Yogi Wajahat and many more who own and appreciate the cause.
The students of BINAE Education Foundation, APHA, DeafReach, NOWPDP and Angel Moms Inclusive under the guidance of dedicated educators, showcased a myriad of performances and activities, emphasizing the diverse talents within the special needs community. The atmosphere was charged with positivity and enthusiasm as students demonstrated their artistic and intellectual capabilities, challenging stereotypes and breaking down barriers.
Adding to the grace of the occasion, Ms. Sarwat Nasim Shah, the Chairperson of BINAE, offered words of encouragement and support to the students and highlighted the importance and need for social inclusion in public events as a mark of respecting diversity and ensuring inclusion. Her presence underscored the commitment of BINAE Education Foundation to creating an environment that nurtures the potential of every student, fostering a sense of belonging, empowerment and accomplishment.
Mr Adeeb Aijaz, Co founder of Determined Pakistan and Co host of the event shared his views in the closing remarks that the event not only celebrated the accomplishments of the students but also aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities in society. It fostered a sense of unity and understanding among attendees, encouraging them to actively contribute to building a more inclusive and accepting community as responsible stakeholders.
