Thai CG Hosts Thailand’s National Days with Pomp and Fanfare

KARACHI: On the occasion of the 96th birthday anniversary of His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej ‘The Great’, Thai National Day and Thai Father’s Day, which falls on 05th December each year, The Consul General of Thailand His Excellency Mr. Narut Soontarodom hosted a grand reception at Poolside, Avari Towers here in Karachi.

Upon arrival at the reception, guests were welcomed by The Consul General of Thailand His Excellency Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Deputy Head of Mission at Royal Thai Consulate General Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep and Mr. Arif Suleman President of Pak Thai Friendship Association & Business Forum. They were then served with very refreshing Thai coconut drinks and some excellent presentational videos were being displayed courtesy ‘Thai Airways’, which show exquisite beauty of the Thailand’s culture and heritage.

Event was graced by The Honorable Governor of Sindh, Mr. Kamran Khan Tessori, as the Chief Guest and other notable attendees included Mr. Arshad Wali Muhammad, Interim Minister for Tourism, Mr. Nasir Hussain Shan former Minister alongside crème de la crème of Diplomatic Corp in Karachi.

The Consul General of Thailand His Excellency Mr. Narut Soontarodom during his welcome address conveyed his warmest greetings to all Thai nationals and friends of Thailand in Sindh and Balochistan and he said; “throughout his reign of 70 years, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great reigned with righteousness, wisdom, and compassion for the well-being of the Thai people. His Majesty’s lifelong dedication to his country and people is evident in the over 4,000 Royal Sponsored Projects that he initiated, which have immeasurably contributed to the development of Thailand and the well-being of all Thai citizens”.

Some of the late King’s developments are now accepted worldwide, his formula for artificial rain to address drought and improve water resource management and his invention of the patented Chaipattana Aerator, a low-cost mechanical device for treating wastewater, are just two examples of the late King’s works that have benefited people across the continents.

The Consul General of Thailand said; “The past 7 decades have witnessed a growing bond of friendship between Thailand and Pakistan, bringing our people together in many spheres of cooperation. I am confident that this relationship will continue to strengthen in the years to come as I pledge my readiness to fully cooperate with local authorities, the consular corps, and business communities in Karachi, Sindh, and Balochistan, in all aspects in order to foster closer ties between government, private sector, as well as people-to-people. I will also strive to overcome challenges in strengthening the work of the Royal Thai Consulate General, particularly in consular matters and in promoting closer ties between Thailand and Pakistan”.

This followed a cake-cutting ceremony performed by host Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Chief Guest Mr. Kamran Tessori and senior diplomats present.

After cake cutting ceremony guests were served with authentic Thai Food and Thai Desserts, upon which the event concluded.
