LAHORE: Pakistan Dairy Association (PDA) and Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) to organizing stocktaking event, “Greening and Scaling Sustainability in Pakistan’s Dairy Sector,” scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 21, 2023, in Lahore.
The upcoming dairy event is a significant gathering that will bring together policy makers, industry experts, academia and other relevant stakeholders to discuss the latest development and innovation in dairy sector.

The “GAIN Access to Better Dairy” Project, initiated in 2022, endeavors to address the whey water wastage issue by repurposing it into a sustainable and nutritionally enrich beverage. With technical assistance from Arla Food Ingredients (AFI) and other partners, significant progress has been achieved by two dairy processors and a premix supplier in developing a market-ready fortified prototype, showcasing improved taste and enhanced nutritional profiles. The first phase of this project, funded by DANIDA is concluding in December 2023, has demonstrated promising results, propelling the initiative towards successful scaling and substantial positive impacts. Encouragingly, GAIN Pakistan has secured funding from DGBP for the project’s second phase, spanning the next five years.
In the spirit of progress and collaboration, the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and the Pakistan Dairy Association, in consultation with SUN Movement Pakistan and Partner Dairies (Fauji Foods Limited and Cakes & Bakes/Ajmair Food Private Limited), are convening a stakeholders’ stocktaking meeting on December 21, 223 at PC Lahore. This gathering aims not only to celebrate the achievements of the first phase but also to engage stakeholders in initiating the second phase of the project through collaborative efforts.
