Meet International Patisserie Chef Aatikah Hussain

4

I am Aatikah Hussain, born and bred in Zambia (Africa) with Pakistani origins. Am a self taught Patisserie Chef. Baking has been my passion since I was a kid so it all started in my home kitchen as back in time we didn’t had much halal bakeries in Zambia and almost all the baking used to be done at home so I would always see my mom my Aunties baking and used to help them and learn from them. Whatever the occasion used to be I always had a dessert for that. After graduating high school I had this choice of studying further but I was so happy to stick to my passion that I turned it into my profession and became a full time at home Chef. Lucky enough, I got a job of a supplier and head Patisserie Chef in a well known restaurant in Zambia and my journey in the industry started. I was happy to do something I really enjoyed doing, even though am a self taught baker I got chances to work with and take short trainings from international chefs working in Intercontinental Zambia and Taj Pamodzi Zambia.

In 2019 I shifted Pakistan and for quite a time I kept struggling to make a place for my small little brand as I faced lots of discouragements and at one point I did loose all my hope and wanted to shut my dream but my family is supportive enough specially my father,he thinks am the best baker in the world and this is what kept me going. I renamed my home bakery “MELTED BY A” which initially was “Delicious desires” in Zambia. I stayed really honest to my work and Alhamdulilah I did succeed in making a place for myself and I take pride in saying that Alhamdulilah I have a very good client base now as a home chef and a supplier in Karachi as well.

I have appeared in some cooking shows with some celebrity chefs which was an absolute dream come true. I aim to have my baking studio in near future where I would love to teach my students the art of baking and other than that I have a dream to have my own baking show on national television which Insha Allah with my hardwork and my parents support I will realize soon. Zambia taught me baking and Pakistan taught me how to move forward facing odds in life so now it’s my turn to make both my homes proud as am proudly a ZamPak.
