KARACHI: A seminar titled “Revolutionizing Education in Pakistan: Embracing Technology for Transformative Change” was held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Wok Hei Restaurant, Khayaban-e-Jami, Karachi. Organized by WisdomTree Apex Skill Institute (WASI), founder Mehreen Mushtaq Kazi, with 15 years of experience in teacher training, leads Wisdom Tree School, an institution for underprivileged children. At WASI, she develops innovative curricula and offers a one-year ECE diploma. Her mission is to revolutionize education in Pakistan, integrating technology and promoting holistic development. As president of the Women’s Wing Educational Services Association, Mehreen is dedicated to improving educational standards and fostering social change through her work.
The event brought together leading educationists and thought leaders to address the current challenges and opportunities in Pakistan’s education sector, with a particular focus on the transformative role of technology in schools.
The event commenced with a recitation of the Holy Quran by Rafiq Vayani, Executive Editor of Biz Today, followed by a soulful rendition of the national anthem. Host Shazleen Vahidy introduced the program, and Mehreen Mushtaq Kazi, an esteemed educator, trainer, and holistic healer, delivered the welcome note, setting the tone for an enlightening seminar.
The seminar featured a lineup of distinguished speakers:
- Saad Aziz, Managing Director of Urdu Academy Sindh Group of Educational Publishing Firms and a PhD Scholar at DHA Suffa University, presented on “Transformation in Books and Curriculum: A Comparative Analysis.” He discussed the evolution of educational curricula in Pakistan, highlighting the effects of the pandemic on learning materials and methods.
- Aleem Qureshi, Chairman of the Federation of Private Schools Pakistan and an esteemed educational consultant, elaborated on the “Current State of Education in Pakistan.” He provided a comprehensive overview of the latest trends and challenges in the sector and discussed strategies to adapt to the new normal in education.
- Ali Raza Panjwani, Master Trainer at Rehan School, presented an overview of Rehan School’s role in the technological revolution in education. He discussed the impact of technology on accessibility and quality of education in remote areas, sharing success stories from digital education initiatives.
- Faisal Sheikh delivered a presentation on “Transforming Education: The Power of Emerging Technologies in STREAM,” exploring the integration of STREAM (Science, Technology, Robotics, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) into the education system and its potential to enhance learning experiences.
The seminar concluded with a summation of key points by Shakeel Ahmed Khan, who provided final thoughts on the future of education in Pakistan and emphasized the crucial role of technology in driving transformative change.
Educational Hero Awards were presented to institutions that have made significant contributions to educating underprivileged communities, including Amal e Danish School, Bunyad Schooling System, Binae Academy, Alpha School, H.M. Tiny Tots School (Kharadar), Save Our Children School, Rehan Online School, Sind Model School, Skytec Institute, and Alzohra Secondary School. A special award was given to Chef Faiza for her exceptional work in promoting Pakistani cuisine globally.
Notable guests included Aiman Sami Khan, founder of Womenza; Chef Asma Imran, founder of Arzoo; Irum Arshad, founder of Smart Business Group; Mehmood Khan, Director of Star Marketing; Abdul Majeed Abdani, Chairman of Abdani Foundation; Sarwat Naseem Shah, founder of Khudi Pakistan; and others.
The seminar at Wok Hei Restaurant, under Chef Yasir’s expert supervision, showcased exceptional hospitality. Guests were greeted warmly and enjoyed a Hi-Tea with unique, expertly prepared dishes. Chef Yasir and his team ensured flawless service, with a perfect blend of culinary excellence and professionalism. Their dedication made the event memorable and earned them a perfect score of 100 out of 100 for their outstanding contribution.
The seminar concluded with a souvenir distribution for the speakers and participants, followed by a group photo. The event was a huge success, with an enthusiastic audience and overwhelmingly positive responses, marking a significant step toward revolutionizing education in Pakistan by embracing technology.
