The survey covers a wide range of topics, including relationships with government, funding, the value of business events to regions, and future-building.
Ross Moffett, Sales Director, ICC Belfast, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting The Business of Events’ Global Destination Report in 2024.
“Research such as this is valuable for analysing the marketplace and to ensure destinations are both competitive and well-equipped to offer the very best event experiences.
“In a truly global events market, we know there are many factors which determine the choice of a destination and a venue. Industry excellence is elevating standards for everyone and making it a dynamic and competitive sector. At ICC Belfast we focus heavily on the environmental sustainability of everything we do, so we’ll be looking forward to seeing just how highly this factors in others’ decision-making.”
Iain Bell, Acting Chief Executive of ICC Belfast said, “As Northern Ireland’s only purpose-built convention centre, business events represent a significant growth opportunity for our region. We have a great story and superb hospitality, which is now matched with world-class, award-winning convention and conference facilities. The findings of this research will support our engagement with government as we drive to unlock the economic potential of our thriving region. I know other venues and cities will be keen to see widespread participation in this research, as we all work to push this sector forward.”
Claudia Hall, Exhibition Director, IBTM World, said: “The Global Destination Report has been an integral part of IBTM World for the past four years, offering invaluable insights into the evolving landscape of business events. Partnering with The Business of Events on this important study ensures that we continue to support destinations in staying competitive and informed, helping them to meet the changing demands of the global market and driving innovation across the industry. I strongly encourage destinations to get involved, as this research plays a key role in strengthening their advocacy efforts. We look forward to unveiling the findings at the Forum for Advocacy in Barcelona on 18th November.”
Martin Fullard, Director, News & Content, The Business of Events, said: “Destinations and major venues like ICC Belfast play a vital role in advocating for a strong business events sector within their cities, regions or countries. They are on the front line of understanding buyer trends and are therefore well positioned to advocate for the sector.
“The industry has experienced an excellent bounce back over the last two years, and we expect the 2024 Global Destination Report to provide evidence of a continued upwards trend.”
All destinations and convention bureaux are encouraged to participate in this survey to contribute to the comprehensive data pool. The insights gleaned from the survey will be invaluable for industry stakeholders, including event planners, destination marketers, and policymakers.
