DOHA: Two of the four Pakistani Ph.D. Students from the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry at the University of Karachi recently achieved remarkable success at the prestigious American Chemical Society (ACS) Qatar Chapter and Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) Regional Middle East and Africa Conference 2024, held in Qatar.
Among 300 research posters presented by scholars from various nations, Sanya Khursheed and Muhammad Ali Minhas secured Third Place Poster Awards in the competition.
A spokesperson for the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, announced on Thursday that four Ph.D. students — Sanya Khursheed, Amber Bano, Muhammad Ali Minhas, and Daim Asif Raja—were awarded the coveted ACS Travel Grant, enabling them to present their research at the conference.
In an impressive display of academic excellence, two of these students secured Third Place Poster Awards, bringing pride not only to the University of Karachi but also to Pakistan’s presence on the global scientific stage, the spokesperson said.
Dr. Muhammad Imran Malik, the research supervisor for the four students, expressed his pride, stating: “We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievement. Their hard work, dedication, and innovative research have earned international recognition. We wish them continued success in their future endeavors.”
Prof. Dr. Farzana Shaheen, Director of ICCBS, University of Karachi, congratulated the award recipients and their supervisor. She highlighted the institution’s consistent production of talented researchers and emphasized that this accomplishment reinforces its commitment to fostering excellence in scientific research.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi, Prof. Dr. Khalid Mehmood Iraqi, and Prof. Dr. Atta-ur Rahman, Professor Emeritus and former Federal Minister for Science and Technology, also extended their heartfelt congratulations to the students for their achievement.
