DUBAI/KARACHI: The College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM) Karachi proudly celebrated its 9th Annual Convocation with the theme “Skilled Youth, Hope of Pakistan” at the prestigious PC Hotel Karachi. Over 200 graduates specializing in culinary arts, hospitality, travel and tourism, and food safety were honored for their outstanding achievements, marking a milestone in their professional journeys.
The event was graced by Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Minister of Planning and Development Energy, Government of Sindh, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guests included Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Consulate General of Yemen and Member of the National Assembly, Mr. Salman Javed, Chairman of FPCCI’s Standing Committee on Tourism Economy, and Mr. Khurram Awan, General Manager of Mövenpick Hotel Karachi, who served as Guests of Honor.
In his keynote address, Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah congratulated the graduates, emphasizing the critical role of skilled youth in Pakistan’s progress. He highlighted tourism management as a vital contributor to foreign exchange generation and detailed the government’s initiatives to combat institutional challenges, such as transitioning to solar energy. He announced future development plans aimed at providing enhanced opportunities for the country’s youth.
During the ceremony, top-performing graduates were presented with medals and shields in recognition of their academic excellence. The Chief Guest lauded their achievements, inspiring peers to strive for similar success.
Speakers, including Mr. Ahmad Shafiq, Founder of COTHM Global-UK, and Mr. Sabir Ahmed, Executive Director of COTHM Karachi, commended the graduates for their dedication and innovation in hospitality, culinary arts, and tourism. They emphasized the significance of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving the future of the industry and extended their heartfelt congratulations to the graduates.
