DUBAI: American Airlines and its partners raised more than $1.2 million to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation at this year’s Celebrity Ski event in Beaver Creek, Colorado. This event has been a significant fundraiser for the Foundation, helping to raise critical funds that directly support their mission. To date, American has raised more than $47 million to the CF Foundation through the annual event, making a lasting impact on the fight against cystic fibrosis.

“For the past 40 years, we’ve joined forces with our dedicated team members, sponsors, and supporters on the slopes, united in our fight against cystic fibrosis,” said Caroline Clayton, Senior Vice President of Communications and Chief Marketing Officer at American. “At American Airlines, our purpose is to care for people on life’s journey, and that mission is aligned closely with the work of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. While we’ve made significant progress, there is still much more to be done, and we are steadfast in our commitment to this journey.”

The funds raised will help advance the mission of the CF Foundation, the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis. The CF Foundation supports a broad range of research initiatives to fight cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects the lungs, pancreas and other organs.“We are very grateful to American Airlines, our longest-standing corporate supporter of 40 years, who has raised more than $47 million through American Airlines Celebrity Ski,” said Michael Boyle, MD, President and CEO of the CF Foundation. “Thanks to American’s generosity, many people with CF are living longer than at any time in history.”

This year’s event saw more than 450 attendees and volunteers, including celebrities from the sports and entertainment industries. Attendees skied alongside Olympic athletes and enjoyed performances by Dasha and Noah Rinker.

American has been a vital part of the CF Foundation’s journey, funding major advancements, from the early discovery of the cystic fibrosis gene in 1989 to the approvals of life-changing therapies that address the disease’s underlying causes. The airline has also donated hundreds of millions of AAdvantage® miles, supporting fundraising auctions across the country.
