DUBAI: FireEye, Inc., the intelligence-led security company, today announces its participation in the largest cyber security show in the region, Gulf Information Security Conference (GISEC).
GISEC in its 8th edition, brings the tech-titans and digital policy and decision makers under one roof to debate and explore the novel tech trends and latest cyber security innovations. At GISEC 2019, FireEye will bring in its global and regional leaders under one roof to provide top-level intelligence against today’s cyber attacks.
FireEye’s Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Strategy Officer, John Watters, will take to the main stage on day one to discuss the evolution of the digital age, the associated global cyber threat landscape, and what this means for the Middle East. On day two, Jens Monrad, FireEye’s EMEA Head of Intelligence, will speak on the dark stage – new to GISEC this year – to discuss how to find the right balance when it comes to cyber threat intelligence (CTI), including unlocking CTI to enable organizations to better address threats.
Also, on day two, Alister Shepherd MEA Director of Mandiant at FireEye, will hold a closed-room secret briefing, demonstrating a first-hand simulated cyber attack. This simulation will showcase the potential impacts of an attack on an organization, uncover the level of resource that can be consumed to resolve an attack and the overall potential impact to businesses, and identify some key best practice behaviors that organisations should all adopt to best mitigate the risks of a breach.
“As uncovered in our 10th annual M-Trends report, we’ve seen attackers become increasingly sophisticated as they adopt new methods,” said Yazan Hammoudah, Senior Manager, Systems Engineering MEA, FireEye. “Organizations need to know that no industry is safe from these threats. It’s our goal at GISEC to arm business leaders with the intelligence to handle even the most sophisticated cyber attacks.”
Throughout the show, FireEye leaders will be onsite to give further insight into:
- Newly identified APT 40 – a China-Nexus Espionage Actor: a state-sponsored Chinese cyber espionage operation which has targeted Cambodia, Belgium, Germany, Hong Kong, Philippines, Malaysia, Norway, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
- Recently release M-Trends Report 2019: The report revealed a number of findings about how cyber attackers operated throughout 2018, including a global reduction in dwell time as well as a growing trend of organisations being targeted as they were going through the merger and acquisition process. FireEye data shows how attackers are compromising the credentials of a trusted source to send phishing emails to recipients who click on links or open attachments that let attackers in to the targeted network.
- Threats to the automotive industry: FireEye has seen multiple intrusions in the automotive industry in Europe over the past few years, mainly from Chinese attackers. Additional activity has been seen from North Korea and Vietnam. State-sponsored threat actors aim to steal information from automotive manufacturers such as proprietary research, development data, and intellectual property that could provide an economic or competitive advantage.
