MANAMA: Gulf Air yesterday announced it will increase its Moscow service from 4 weekly to daily flights with a new operating schedule that will come into effect in the last week of October, coinciding with the airline’s 3-year anniversary of direct, nonstop service to/from Domodedovo International Airport in the Russian capital.
Commenting on this latest development, Ahmed Janahi, Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer, said: “By adding frequencies and enhancing our product offering we are making Moscow more accessible than ever for our customers travelling from across the region, providing them with greater flight selections for both direct and transit travel to and from the Russian capital. We believe this positive development will boost our competitive edge in the market and anticipate positive passenger response and heightened demand as a result on our popular Moscow route.”
Gulf Air’s direct Moscow route is further supported by a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) agreement between the airline and Russian carrier S7 Airlines enabling Gulf Air passengers to take flights beyond Moscow to and from various Russian cities including St Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Volgograd, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Ufa, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk. With a combined fare that is more attractive than those purchased separately, the SPA agreement allows passengers to purchase only one ticket, at a more competitive fare, for their entire journey instead of separate tickets for each individual carrier.
