DUBAI: The Grand Mosque of Rashidiya in Dubai hosted 6,000 worshippers during the third and fourth day of Ramadan praying Taraweeh with Sheikh Saad bin Saeed Al-Ghamidi, Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque in Saudi Arabia. Taraweeh is an additional prayer of the Sunni Muslims performed at night after Isha prayer during the holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Ghamidi was invited by Ramadan Dubai, an event which runs during the whole duration of Ramadan. It is organized by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Ramadan Dubai aims to strengthen the state’s status as a leading model for tolerance and peaceful coexistence between different nationalities and religions.
Al-Ghamidi’s invitation has been part of Rashid bin Mohammed Ramadan Forum, an important activity of Ramadan Dubai. The Forum is hosting 21 foreign and 102 local readers from the Islamic world to commemorate Prophet Muhammad through late night prayers (Al-Taraweeh and Qiyyam Al-Layl) and listening to the recitations of the Holy Quran in the most reprehensible voices from the Arab and Muslim world. Among the most prominent readers are Mishary bin Rashid Al-Afasy (Kuwait), Sa’ad bin Saeed Al-Ghamidi (Saudi Arabia), Idris Abaker (Yemen), Adel Abdullah Rayyan Yemen), Fahed Wasel Al-Mutairi (Kuwait), Hamza Al Far (Jordan), Koutaiba Al Zuwaid (Kuwait), Mohammed Mubarak Al Faw (Bahrain), Rabov Cerato (Tajikistan), Ahmed bin Bashar Sheikhi (Saudi Arabia), Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Abdul Rahman Ibrahim Al Suwaid and Omar Abdul Aziz Al Kanadi from UAE.
For his part, Al-Ghamidi praised the effectiveness of Ramadan Dubai, pointing out that the UAE is always returning to positive and constructive change. Further he said that in the Year of Tolerance, we are seeing the pursuit of activities and programs that promote the spirit of tolerance among all members of society, which is a true reflection of the tolerant United Arab Emirates, a land called home by over 200 nationalities living in harmony. For this the Imam prayed for the rulers and its people for grace, security, and safety.
Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, General Coordinator of Ramadan Dubai honored Sheikh Saad bin Saeed Al Ghamidi and extended to him greetings from the Department and gave him a certificate of appreciation.
Al-Rashidiya Mosque is hosting the reader Sheikh Hamza Al-Far from Jordan for two days during the 7th and 8th day of Ramadan. News Desk
