Sharjah Finance Department wins Gold and Bronze at 16th Annual International Business Awards

SHARJAH: Sharjah Finance Department (SFD), was named winner of the Gold Stevie® Award, for its implementation of the smart receipt system (TAHSEEL), and the Bronze Stevie® Award, for its implementation of the financial management solution (TAKAMUL), at the 16th Annual International Business Awards®, held at ANDAZ Hotel am Belvedere, Vienna, Austria on Saturday.

Waleed Al Sayegh, Director General of Sharjah Finance Department was present at the event to receive the award on behalf of SFD. “We are thrilled about receiving this recognition and it is an honor to be sharing the platform with some of the best names in the industry. SFD supports more than 100 government entities that are connected by a comprehensive financial system that helps in the development of its financial performance. In the future we will strive harder to come up with similar solutions that yield positive results for our clients and customers,” Sayegh said.

He added: “To be chosen from over 4,000 nominations and winning this coveted award in two categories means a lot to the SFD family. This shows that our efforts over the past year have been duly recognized and this here’s to achieving many more milestones in the future.”

“TAHSEEL” is a comprehensive real-time digital payment-processing platform that delivers new digital-age payment instruments that enable real-time payments and settlements for the Government of Sharjah and caters for SFD’s unique needs that extend beyond what the financial industry’s platforms offer.

“TAHSEEL” is an automated system, developed to operate through the e-payment gateways of the Government of Sharjah and other government departments. It is also operating through smart applications to be available to the public, in a smart interactive and flexible environment. This Government Financial System, with all its components and upgrades, was totally supported by the Executive Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, to be a comprehensive financial system emphasising the implementation of its wise directions to achieve the best results of an excellent government performance.

TAKAMUL is a comprehensive and integrated customized Government Resources Planning (GRP) solution which meets financial requirements of more than 80governmental entities in the Emirate of Sharjah, supervised by the SFD. TAKAMUL consists of a number of financial programs that regulate the financial work of the government as a whole. These programs include budget preparation and execution, procurement, warehouses, contracting, assets, to salary analyzes and others. These programmes, continue to support in business improvement, including the notes management, the portal of suppliers, registration and many others.

“TAKAMUL” is integrated with several external entities (such as the British Bank, Smart Monitor, Sharjah Islamic Bank, Sharjah Airport, Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority and Ministry of Finance), using a modern network according to the latest methods of automated connectivity to serve the financial work of the Government of Sharjah.

At the award ceremony, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie winners were selected from more than 4,000 nominations received from organizations and individuals in 74 nations. This year’s awards jury were composed of 250 members from across the world, of which 12 jury members determined the winner in each category. Some of the other countries that took home this prestigious award include United States of America, Turkey, South Korea, United Kingdom and Philippines.
