There is no doubt that as a nation, our penchant for spitting and littering is well known. We don’t care to throw litter out of our air-conditioned cars and are contributing to the rising garbage on our streets. It’s high time that we should understand the fact that cleanliness should be a habit and not just an act. The countrywide cleanliness campaign ‘HogaSaaf Pakistan’ is an excellent initiative in making people aware of the importance of cleanliness. It aims to create a happy, cleaner, and better Pakistan.

They recently unveiled the Safai Anthem, aiming to bring the masses together to work towards cleanliness another step forward. Asim Azhar’s voice keeps you hooked to the song. It binds well with the narration bringing in the right mix of patriotism. The female part is paired with Aima Baig’s heavenly voice. The anthem has a vibrant and peppy feel to it. It’s colorful and culturally rich, depicting Pakistan and its citizens aesthetically. The USP of this song is the catchy chorus and engaging lyrics that help it to stand out. The song gets the mood right; it’s making our feet tapping and carries the right message too. The hook step with a broom is well choreographed and well-executed by the volunteers. The high on energy track reaches its crescendo towards the ending note with a high dose of nationalistic fervor to support and promotes cleanliness and hygiene in every possible way. All said and done, and the anthem is a great way to unite the masses for an important social cause.

The video starts with an unhappy Waseem Badami, wondering that Kabhi HogaSaaf Pakistan (Will Pakistan ever be clean) to which the cute Ahmed Shah responds with his famous dialogue Aagay to Dekho (Look forward). We are introduced to the cosmopolitans; Fahad Mustafa makes a heroic appearance and takes the initiative in bringing behavioral change in people to motivate them. From picking up the broom to cleaning-up different spots, it resultantly makes the masses march out of their homes and strengthen the cleanliness systems by cleaning out their respective areas with great joy and enthusiasm.

Iqrar-ul-Hassan plays his part in the cleanliness drive by picking garbage bags himself thrown by the citizens. Children in schools are being taught the right way to wash their hands. Shaniera Akram, known for her social activism and vocalness about the beach cleanliness issue, also features and puts her best foot to clean the seaside accompanied by Mustafa. The Safai Anthem is an inspirational song for the masses, urging them to work towards a cleaner Pakistan. As Asim Azhar sings the chorus “Tere Mere Hathon Se HogaSaaf Pakistan,” it instills a sense of belonging and responsibility in the citizens.
