Indonesian Consulate participates in 33rd International Gourmet 2020 PAF Air War College

KARACHI: Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi in collaboration with the Indonesian Women Association (Dharma Wanita Persatuan/DWP) and Indonesian Defence Attache in Islamabad participated in the 33rd International Gourmet at the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Air War College (AWC) Karachi, Saturday 11 January, 2020.

International Gourmet is an annual event organized by PAF AWC Karachi aimed at develops cohesiveness and bondage amongst the course participants and their families. It also creates awareness about the cultural heritage and traditions of various regions. This year international students come from Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Migeria, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and Zimbabwe. Likewise, Pakistani members are representing Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Baluchistan, Gilgit Baltistan, KPK, Punjab,m and Sindh.

The event begins with ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Chief Guest Air Marshal Mirza Zafar Hussain accompanied by a number officers from Pakistan Air Force and VVIP guests. Later, the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries visited every stall of the participating countries followed by lunch.

Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi at this year’s International Gourmet displayed various type of handicraft products, batik, traditional music instrument “angklung”, traditional foods and promotional materials about various tourist destinations in Indonesia. Many Indonesian cuisines, particularly sate ayam (chicken satay), Bihun goreng (fried noodle), Cheese Stick, and Bolu Kukus (steam cake) received high appreciation from Pakistani people due to their distinct taste and flavors. Traditional dress of Indonesia from Palembang, Padang, Betawi and Sulawesi as well as batik materials featured with unique patterns and designs were being promoted during the occasion to show the diverse and richness of Indonesian culture. The participation of Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi at this International Gourmet received positive response from the visitors. The organizing committee expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all participants who made the event such a success.
