LAHORE: Kaarvan Crafts Foundation have signed a contract with MoU with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). With this new contract, the National Incubation Center (NIC) at LUMS will take the Urban Entrepreneurship development model to the Rural Women entrepreneurs at the grassroots level.

The aim of this partnership is to bridge the urban-rural  divide through participatory design where 30 female entrepreneurs already engaged in the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) program in partnership with The British Asian Trust will be mentored to unpack business solutions.

Working with the NIC, Kaarvan plans to provide tools and share knowledge that cater to the needs and demands of the rural community. “The idea is to integrate academia by tailoring the curriculum to meet the demands of female rural microentrepreneurs,” says Saad Akbar, Head of MER at Kaarvan.

This contract has come on the heels of a successful one week workshop organised in December when the NIC team met with various rural micro-entrepreneurs of Bahawalpur and gauged a sense of their livelihood and business challenges.
