The word ‘Sanat’ is taken from the Turkish language translates literally to mean ‘art: Abid Marchant

Abid Merchant one of the Founder of Sanat Initiative which aims to explore the relationship between art, artists and society through active partnerships with curators, galleries, art fairs & museums worldwide was talking informally with the BizToday correspondent.

Replying to a question on why he named it Sanat?, Abid Merchant said; “the word ‘Sanat’ is taken from the Turkish language translates literally to mean ‘art’’, but in usage, ‘sanat’ has broader associations and nuances; explaining not just objects or vocation, but defining the artistic process and the sociological implications of art”.

He further said that; “Sanat Art Gallery was founded in early 2014 with an aim to explore the relationship between art, artists and society through active partnerships with curators, galleries, art fairs and museums worldwide. Till-date more than 80 exhibition have been held here at Sanat, and even though we have a small space but it’s enough to show what we want to show”.

His message to upcoming youngsters is “keep doing what you are good at with the presence of thought process, inspiration is good but you need to be innovative, bold and initiative”.
