KARACHI: “Successful “Awami Theatre Festival shows that Karachi has become a living heart of Arts. The record-breaking participation of the citizens shows that theatre has a bright future in this city and it has increased the enthusiasm of the Arts Council even further.
I am amazed to see the overwhelming response that this festival has received” Said president Arts Council Mohammad Ahmed Shah while addressing the closing ceremony of “Awami Theatre Festival 2020” at the Arts Council. He said that this festival is in talk and I announce that all these artists and directors can hold the theater festival again whenever they want.
At the closing ceremony of the 18-day festival, the directors and artists of the “Awami Theater Festival” were presented with awards, while the Arts Council also announced cash prizes in recognition of their services.
In the ceremony, the directors of the Theater Festival expressed their views and said that we are grateful to the Arts Council and Muhammad Ahmad Shah. Addressing the function, comedian and director Rauf Lala said “The damage we caused during the lockdown has been remedied through this festival. We all are overjoyed that we got the opportunity to work after four months. Theatre play “Yahi Such Hai” by the director Zakir Mastana was staged at the closing ceremony of the Awami Theater Festival, a large number of audiences were present on the occasion.
