DAMAC recently held its first-ever cyclethon event, the Tour De DAMAC, at the AKOYA community, in which close to 500 cycling professionals participated. In the event, Vladimir Gusev and Kim De Baat won the 60km race for adults in the men and women’s category, while Ali Jassim and Safiya Al Sayegh won in the Emirati men and women category.

DAMAC has also been a regular participant of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. Last year, the company safely and successfully held a series of sports activities and health and fitness awareness sessions for its staff in the month of November.

“As our AKOYA community is fast developing and maturing, we are excited to be able to host sporting events there to showcase all the facilities and amenities that the community has to offer,” Sajwani added.

AKOYA is DAMAC’s latest and greatest master development, packed with amenities and green outdoor spaces. The 55 million square foot community, 1.5 times the size of Central Park in Manhattan, consists of luxury villas and low-rise properties. The community already has a state-of-the-art dog park and is in the process of building an outdoor cinema, a rock-climbing wall, a butterfly garden and a petting zoo.

Residents at the DAMAC Hills community also enjoy a range of amenities and facilities for sports and entertainment, including all types of sports fields and courts, a petting zoo, a skate park, horse stables, an ice-skating rink and the UAE’s only community wave pool — Malibu Bay.

“At DAMAC, we have really changed the public perception about what it means to live in a community. Our idea is that we provide our residents with everything they possibly need, whether it be sports, entertainment, retail, health or educational needs. DAMAC communities offer residents everything just on their doorsteps and we would like to invite the public to come have some fun with us this month and see first-hand what community living means to us,” Sajwani said.
