HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed opens World Police Summit at Expo 2020 Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council, opened the inaugural World Police Summit at the Dubai Exhibition Centre, Expo 2020 Dubai, on Monday (March 14).

The four-day summit, which is bringing together more than 200 speakers from 50 countries – including 50 police chiefs – is slated to discuss diverse topics in security, such as crime prevention, forensic science, drug control, policing innovations, drones, robotics, artificial intelligence and canine units.

The summit also features a specialised trade exhibition in which 150 companies and organisations are showcasing the latest crime detection and prevention technologies, specalised vehicles, drones and other products and services to boost police performance. Free-to-attend workshops are taking place on topics such as ‘Controlling Overuse of Social Media Among Children’ and ‘Using Digital Platforms for Drug Intelligence’.

The four days will feature an array of speakers delivering keynote speeches and participating in panel sessions, including: Commissioner Luís Carrilho, Police Advisor, United Nations; Jin Gyo Hoon, Deputy Commissioner General, Korean National Police Agency; Mark Evans, Deputy CEO – Innovation and Insights, New Zealand Police; Brig Gen Pierluigi Solazzo, Chief of the Operations Office of the GHQ, Carabinieri, Italy; Jim Lee, Chief of Criminal Investigation Internal Revenue Service, USA; Krista Aas, Deputy Director General, Development, Estonian Police and Border Guard; Dwight Henninger, President, International Association of Chiefs of Police; Lt Gen Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and General Security, Dubai; and Maj Gen Dr Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, President, Interpol.

The conference has been designed to provide thought-leadership, direction, strategies and technologies required to strengthen public safety in the face of growing security threats, including terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering and cybercrime.
