du, from Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), is donating AED 1 million to Al Jalila Foundation, a global philanthropic organisation dedicated to transforming lives through medical research, education and treatment to position Dubai and the UAE at the forefront of medical innovation.
The donation was announced by Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO at du and Dr. Abdulkareem Al Olama, CEO at Al Jalila Foundation. It will help fund the foundation’s latest projects, including research grants that have created training opportunities for more than 400 young students and post-doctoral associates in the UAE, and contributed to 321 publications in multiple international scientific journals and 284 conference presentations.
In addition, projects funded by Al Jalila Foundation have led to six patent inventions, four new discoveries and numerous local as well as international awards for research excellence. du’s contribution to the foundation is in alignment with the telco’s #RamadanInYou campaign which focuses on giving back to the local community in a way that is both sustainable and engages du employees.
