International Women’s Day is celebrated around the world every year on March 8, to acknowledge the achievements of these women, who fight on two fronts—home and workplace—and become equal partner in progress in any country. International Women’s Day is not country, group or organization specific. The day belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. The day is celebrated irrespective of their nationality, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political background.
Keeping in line with this year’s International women day’s theme, “PressforProgress”, Nauman Arfeen has paid tribute to all women of Pakistan and across the globe, through a video release. The video has shown iconic women like Bilqees Edhi, Sunita Marshal, Zhalay Sarhadi, Jehan Ara, Afia Salam, Sarwat Gilani, Ayesha Toor, Dr. Shehla Naseem, Nadia Hussain, Shahida Kazi, Maria Wasti, Amna Khan, Riffat Saif, Hina Khwaja Bayat, Zoreed Raza, Fereshteh Feri Rawanian, Hira Hussain, Rizwana Soomro, Shumaila Hafeez and Saira Saigal, giving short messages about the power of women, how they can change the society and the world.
The messages these dynamic women, who are leaders in their respective fields, are short but important for a world which needs gender parity. The video also gives a between-the-line message of how women should be treated. “Women need to be treated with kindness, equality, respect and honour”, “Woman is a gift of Allah. She is a power”, “She can do anything possible in the world,” “there is nothing a woman cannot do”, “women are the benchmark of an empowered society”, the messages are loud and clear. With these messages, the video directly asks women to stand up for their rights and acknowledge their strength.
The video is in line with a world call for gender parity and a move for a “gender parity mindset”. The movement took strength after the World Economic Forum’s 2017 Global Gender Gap report, which says that gender parity is over 200 years away – there has never been a more important time to keep motivated and #PressforProgress. And with global activism for women’s equality fuelled by movements like #MeToo, #TimesUp and more – there is a strong global momentum striving for gender parity.
Nauman Arfeen, CEO Naushemian while paying tribute to all women through this video has tried to give this message that women are the symbol of love, happiness, strength, belief, power, support and care everywhere. Gender equality and women empowerment should be focused in our country as women are the building blocks of our nation on the International Women’s Day. The video will be used as a tool for raising awareness among this 50% population of Pakistan about their power and the role they should play in the growth of their country and the society. BIZ TODAY
