DUBAI: The Mohammed bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG), the first research and teaching institution focusing on governance and public policy in the Arab world, hosted the third station on its Future Trip programme’s second edition.
The unique initiative seeks to empower future government leaders, introduce them to the latest developments in government administration, all the while harmonising government efforts to achieve excellence.
The third station included discussions on a number of key topics of importance for the Dubai Government, starting with strategic government planning where the Dubai Plan 2021 was cited as a prime example. The session outlined the key aspects of the Plan,setting pragmatic steps to achieve them. Focusing primarily on government policy development, participants explored effective public policy practices, that optimally serve stakeholders and society at large, especially in light of the changing requirements for the government of the future.
MBRSG’s Executive President His Excellency Dr Ali Sebaa Al Marri said: “Each station on this programme offers an ideal opportunity for government officials and decision-makers to stay up-to-date on current and upcoming government plans. At the same time, these informative sessions are part of an integrated system of government cooperation that promotes government knowledge, and strengthens government cooperation to better serve public interests.”
“We were pleased with the momentum around this third station of the programme,” H.E. Al Marri added,“which included interesting discussions and important information on the scope of work of the General Secretariat of the Executive Council under the Dubai Plan 2021. The debates explore dvarious approaches to policy making, as well as means to measure their effectiveness and impact, before delving deep into the Dubai Government’s many successes in the field.”
Meanwhile, Dr Ahmad Al Nusairat, Coordinator General of Dubai Government Excellence Programme, said: “Now in its second edition, the Future Trip programme continues to serve as an ideal platform for constructive dialogue between government representatives,and an opportunity to deepen cooperation between government agencies and achieve the aspirations of the wise leadership to top the international charts within all sectors.”
The participants were briefed on the practical steps for implementing the Dubai Plan 2021, its objectives, and its six pillars: People, Community, Life Experience, Location, Economy, and Government – these pillars represent the future aspirations of the city in the lead-up to 2021.
The sessions drew representatives from the Dubai Public Prosecution; the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA); Dubai Courts; the Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA); Dubai Government Workshop; Dubai Sports Council; General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners’ Affairs; Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charity; Dubai Land Department; Dubai Civil Defense; Dubai Maritime City Authority; Knowledge and Human Development Authority; Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC); Dubai Media Incorporated; and the Dubai Department of Finance.
