The city of Bandung, one of the fashion and creative industry cities in Indonesia, is known as Paris Van Java. One of Indonesia’s main tourist destinations and is located close to Jakarta, the nation’s capital. On December 5 2022, the leaders of Iqra University were represented by Prof. Dr Muhammad Zaki Rashidi and Prof.Dr. Syed Ali Raza had the opportunity to visit this city to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with two major universities in Bandung, Telkom University and the University of Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI).
At Telkom University, the delegation was received by Dr Ir. Rina Pudji Astuti, M.T Vice-Rector of Research, Innovation & Partnership and faculty leadership. The signing of the MoU took place wisely. In her remarks, she expressed her appreciation to the Indonesian Consul General for the opportunity to work with Iqra University. Telkom University and Iqra University have agreed to realize this collaboration shortly, especially for 5 collaborative focuses, namely Student Exchanges, Scholarships, Teacher Exchanges, Conferences and Seminars, Research and Publications, and collaboration on the Global MBA program.
In line with this, the Iqra University delegation was also received by Prof. Dr Adang Suherman, M.A. Vice-Rector for Finance and Resources and other faculty leaders at the University of Pendidikan Indonesia, Bandung. In the speech signing the MoU, he said that UPI was founded in 1954, as a supporter of the spirit of the Indonesian nation to progress in the field of education, and currently ranks #201-250 in the World University Ranking. The opportunity initiated by the Indonesian Consul General in Karachi to collaborate with Iqra University will be utilized to the fullest. The two universities agreed to realize the program in early 2023.
The Indonesian Consul General, Dr June Kuncoro Hadiningrat, in his remarks virtually expressed his high appreciation and congratulations to the Chancellors of Iqra University, Telkom University and the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) for this collaboration. This collaboration is part of a diplomacy effort to strengthen brotherly relations with Pakistan, especially among countries with the largest Muslim population in the world. He emphasized the big role of the university through students who are the younger generation to continue collaborating with the international community. The Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi has formed the Indonesia Pakistan Youth Forum (IPYF) platform as a forum for collaboration between the young generations of the two countries.
Prof. Dr Muhammad Zaki Rashidi representing the Vice-Chancellor expressed his gratitude for the facilitation of the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi. Indonesia is the right country to cooperate in all fields, especially education. He said that there was still an MoU signing with 4 more universities which would be held on 6-7 December 2022 in Jakarta and Bali.
