KARACHI: The installation ceremony of Rotary District 3271 held at Regent Plaza on Sunday, 9th July, 2023 where the Deputy Governor, Assistant Governor, Club Presidents, Secretaries, and hundreds of district team members from 175 clubs of Sindh & Balochistan participated.
On this occasion, SLASH was presented to the Director of Rotary International 2022-24 Muhammad Faiz Kidwai along with Rotary Foundation Trustee 2020-24 Aziz Memon, New District Governor 2023-24 of Rotary International District 3271 Muhammad Hanif Khan, and others.
A minute’s silence was observed to pay homage to the mother of the nation, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah. The term of all office bearers is one year.
Addressing the ceremony, RI Director Muhammad Faiz Kidwai said that, I welcome the new office bearers. Today is an enjoyable day, past district governor has done good work, and the new governor will continue to do so. We should use our energy for positive work. Unity is the need of time. Efforts should be made to bring youth forward. Inducting new people will send a good message. It is not better to keep positions for a long time. He said that the responsibility has increased in the present era of competition.
Faiz Kidwai added said that we have achieved 25% success so far, and 75% work is still going on. Six people were selected as the new director of Rotary International, and anyone takes the director post. When I was elected director for two years, there was competition from other countries including Bangladesh, but Allah Almighty gave me success.
If we made an effort, the President of Rotary can be a Pakistani. He said that we ended the negative propaganda about Islam abroad and provided correct awareness about the religion of Islam.
Further, Kidwai said that we need that become one nation and have one vision. We have not been able to do this since 1947, we do not need IMF loans if we use the resources of the country in a better way.
Kidwai said that the most important work of Rotary is to establish Smart Villages House in flood-affected areas, 400 houses are to be constructed in each village in 50 villages. Making the country polio-free is a part of the program. Rotary is also committed to education, employment, and the eradication of poverty.
Rotary Foundation Trustee Aziz Memon said that there are high expectations from District Governor Muhammad Hanif Khan. Hanif Khan will improve the image of Rotary in public.
Aziz Memon added if you deposit at least 10 dollars or its equivalent in Pakistani currency in Rotarian Pakistan Trust, we can do a lot with our resources. People of the corporate secretariat should be included in the Rotary. The number of club members should be up to 50 in each club, not 12 or 15 members.
Further, Aziz Memon said that polio has almost been eradicated from the country, and government institutions to eradicate this disease. Police Rangers and the Army have done a lot of work. That’s why we have succeeded in the campaign against polio.
Aziz Memon said, his effort is to hold the next convention in Singapore instead of Europe or America. In this regard, 2000 Rotarians from Rotary International 3271 and 3272 can be flown to Singapore to attend the convention. We will provide visas and other facilities for the participants.
New District Governor of RID 3271 Muhammad Hanif Khan said that improving Rotary’s public image, increasing the number of members, and completing more projects are among the priorities. I am thankful to Allah Almighty, my family, RI Director Faiz Kidwai, Trustee Aziz Memon, PDG Iqbal Qureshi, and everyone. New work has been started from today. The participation of so many Rotarians from Sindh and Balochistan in the event is a sign of confidence. Efforts will be made to include Rotary 3271 in the list of the best districts in the world.
Further, Hanif Khan said that apart from other tasks, there is a need to pay special attention to mental health because of global problems. He said that we will do record work in our one-year term. It is an honor for me that when the president of Rotary International invited 5 presidents of the world for a meeting, I also participated in it.
Addressing the ceremony, District Trainer Admiral (Rtd) Tanveer Ahmed said that today has come after a long journey. As a facilitator, I will fully cooperate, differences are normal and can be resolved together. People of different thinking but no harm done to the house.
Muhammad Ali Haider said that 85 percent of Rotarians from Sindh and Balochistan participated in today’s event. The presence of such a large number of people shows that the message of the people is spreading rapidly. He said that the installation was a change of command, and Muhammad Hanif Khan will take everyone along with him. He said that the project should be such that the head office approves it immediately and releases the funds. Muhammad Hanif Khan is starting work with new determination and passion, and may Allah grant him success.
Past District Governor RID 3271 Syed Tehzeeb Kazmi said that he will fully cooperate with the new governor and his team. Work should start immediately, out of 365 days of the year, 8 days have passed. We all have to work together to make Rotary a better place. I congratulate Muhammad Hanif Khan and his family and friends on their success.
District Governor 2024-25 RID 3271 Muhammad Rizwan Adhia said that for the first time in the history of Rotary, so many people have participated in a program. The way Rotary is working is beginning to show results. We have to walk with sincerity and love.
PDG Iqbal Qureshi said that the construction of smart villages by Rotary is an important need for flood victims. Providing shelter to thousands of people is a big task.
Shakeel Qaimkhani said that the major task of Rotary International 3271 is the establishment of the District Secretary. Rotarians from Sindh and Balochistan can hold seminars and meetings in the Secretariat. There was no Secretariat in Karachi since the establishment of Pakistan. The Secretariat was established with the personal initiative of the New District Governor Hanif Khan.
The Team of installation ceremony of Rotary District 3271 Deputy Governors includes; Shaikh Imtiaz Hussain, Zubair Baweja, Fahad Sikandar, Kazim Shah, and Abdul Rauf Arain and the Core Committee includes; Muhammad Ali Haider, Sadia Zaidi, Sadia Tariq, Humera Qazi, Yumna Atiq, Sadaf Kamran, Capt. Sajid, Izhar Baig, Sohail Haroon, Shehnaz Ramzi, Huma Ikram ullah, Asif Mukaty, Syed Turab Shah, Muhammad Noman Safdar, Kiran Noman, and Syed Kashif Rafi.
On this occasion, singer Sikandar Ali won praise by singing a beautiful song and a Qawwali session by Sabri Brothers.
Recitation of the Holy Quran, National Anthem, Asr and Maghrib prayers were also performed in the ceremony. Before the end of the ceremony, Deputy Governor Zubair Baweja thanked the guests and invited them for dinner.
