DUBAI: The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently hosted a knowledge sharing seminar at its premises which gathered members of Dubai’s business community and highlighted global best practices in engaging Emirati women in development.

The event, organised by the Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network Task Force on Emirati Women Engagement in Development, included presentations from Aramex, Empower and HSBC Middle East which examined corporate policies encouraging and facilitating women engagement within the organisations.

The presentations examined the far-reaching benefits of introducing policies that support women employees, such as flexible working hours and specialised training programmes, and explained that such policies have led to increased productivity, improved employee engagement and retention.

Members of the task force selected specific best practices shared during the event with the intention of submitting recommendations to top management within their organisations.

Last year, Dubai Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) launched the Task Force on Emirati Women Engagement in Development. The task force aims to encourage Emirati women’s participation in the economy, governance, and society at large and make UAE a leading example of women empowerment in the Arab world.

Established by the Chamber’s Centre for Responsible Business (CRB), the Dubai Chamber Sustainability Network serves as the focal point for the business community to share and exchange best practices in implementing CSR. The network provides an opportunity for local companies to network, learn, share experiences and constitute CSR leadership.

The Centre for Responsible Business was established by the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 2004 to support and promote corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. The Centre’s objective is to engage the Dubai business community in assuming greater responsibility for the emirate’s social and environmental needs. The CRB also promotes Dubai as the GCC’s gateway for global commerce by offering its business partners an environment of transparency and rule of law. News Desk
