KARACHI: H. E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Pakistan, has inaugurated the Honorary Consulate of Ethiopia in Karachi which will further strengthen the already flourishing bilateral ties between the two countries.
Talking to the media, the Ambassador congratulated H. E. Ibrahim Tawab, Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Karachi, on his appointment and opening of the Consulate.
Karachi is a business hub as well as the cultural center of Pakistan, the Ambassador said, adding the Consulate opening would not only give a major boost to the bilateral trade, but also bolster people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
He said the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Pakistan has been playing a pivotal role in Look Africa and Engage Africa Policy, contributing massively to connect Pakistan with Africa.
The Government of the FDR Ethiopia first established its Mission in Islamabad in 2022, brought the Ethiopian Airlines in 2023 and this year opened the Honorary Consulate in Karachi, he added.
On the occasion, H.E. Ibrahim Tawab highlighted the extraordinary business, trade and investment opportunities in Ethiopia. He lauded the vision of H. E. Dr. Jemal Beker for promoting trade ties of Pakistan and Africa.
