KARACHI: The Consulate of Italy in Karachi celebrated the ‘the Italian Language Week 2024’ by organizing a ‘cabaret puppetry performance by the Italian artist Pamela Mastrorosa for school children at Habitt City in collaboration with Paramount Books Pvt. Ltd., Gerry’s Group participated as sponsors for the event and Turkish Airlines was the travel partner for the Language Week.
The inspiration behind the initiative was to promote the Italian language and culture among young children and introduce them to the wonders of Italy.
Italian is the most studied language in the world for culture and tourism. Around 85 million people speak Italian as their first language.
The Consul General, Danilo Giurdanella, welcomed all the students and teachers from different schools for their wholehearted participation in exploring more about Italy, it’s language and culture.
The children were greeted by the puppet artists: Pamela Mastrorosa and Mr. Franck Le Lay. The children interacted with kids while they also enjoyed scrumptious breakfast.
The Consulate of Italy also distributed a special publication “A Thousand Wonders ” by Geronimo Stilton, the famous children’s character, who goes to Italy to explore the thousands wonders that Italy boasts of with it’s rich culture, history and tradition.
The Week of the Italian Language in the World (WILW), scheduled in October 2024, to be celebrated by Italian diplomatic and cultural missions abroad. The theme of which is “Italian and the Book: the World between the Lines” and aims to explore the link between language and literature in the contemporary world, highlighting the role of the book as a vehicle of Italian cultural heritage, values and identity.
