Lebanese Company MaliaTec Wins Grand Prix at Wialon’s IoT Project of the Year 2024 Competition

DUBAI: Lebanese company MaliaTec has been awarded the prestigious Grand Prix at this year’s IoT project of the year competition, during an award ceremony held as part of the Wialon сommunity reunion in Dubai. This annual contest, now in its fourth edition, celebrates the most innovative and outstanding fleet management and IoT projects implemented by technological companies and telematics service providers for their clients.

The IoT project of the year competition underscores the potential of Wialon and IoT solutions by showcasing real-world applications that solve critical business challenges. This initiative aims to foster the growth of the IoT industry, spark inspiration, and encourage companies to explore how IoT can transform their business operations. 

More than 100 projects and entries from 45 countries competed for this year’s awards, as Wialon’s global competition aims to recognize and showcase the most innovative IoT, fleet and asset management projects worldwide. Entries included projects from Australia, Brazil, Estonia, Honduras, India, Lebanon, Kenya, Mexico, the Netherlands, Nigeria, South Africa, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uruguay, USA and many others.

From fuel management and fleet tracking to passenger security and industrial equipment monitoring, the breadth of IoT applications presented this year is truly inspiring,” said Andrei Liatsetski, Head of the Project Implementation Team at Wialon and the Head of the Jury of the contest. “The competition highlights how telematics and IoT technologies can be applied to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and business performance across diverse industries. Highlighting the transformative power of IoT and telematics, this initiative fosters innovation and encourages businesses to explore how IoT can revolutionize their operations.”

MaliaTec’s winning project is set to revolutionize public transportation in Lebanon by enhancing safety and the overall commuter experience. The company introduced advanced features such as real-time bus tracking, digital payment systems, automated passenger counting, and driver behavior monitoring, all of which are controlled via a mobile application and centralized control room. Inspired by European standards, the project addresses long-standing issues such as erratic driving and safety concerns, particularly for female passengers.
