Korangi Association holds the status of an institution: Minister for Industry and Trade

KARACHI: Sindh’s Provincial Minister for Industry and Trade, Jam Ikram Dharejo, praised the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) for its significant contributions to the country’s economic growth, calling it an institution of national importance. He made these remarks while addressing a dinner hosted to honor the election of Sheikh Umar Rehan, Danish Aman, Afif Rashid, and Mehwish Akhtar to leadership positions within the association.

The event was attended by KATI President Junaid Naqi, Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya, Senior Vice President Ijaz Sheikh, Vice President Tariq Hussain, officials from the United Business Group (UBG) and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), as well as former KATI presidents and prominent business figures.

Minister Dharejo highlighted KATI’s pivotal role in promoting industrial development, praising the leadership of Sheikh Umar Rehan, Danish Aman, and others for their outstanding contributions to the sector. “The Sindh government is committed to fostering industrial growth, generating employment, and promoting economic stability,” he said, adding that the government values its collaborative relationship with KATI and other trade bodies.

KATI President Junaid Naqi acknowledged the new leadership’s achievements and emphasized that their election reflects the confidence placed in them by the business community. He credited the late SM Munir, affectionately known as “Bhai Jan,” for mentoring leaders of KATI and Business Community who are now instrumental in driving economic progress.

Deputy Patron-in-Chief Zubair Chhaya described the newly elected leaders as invaluable assets to KATI, noting their active involvement not only in economic development but also in social welfare. “KATI’s industrialists are recognized across various sectors, and these individuals exemplify our core values,” Chhaya said. He expressed confidence that KATI would continue to nurture future leaders and emphasized the importance of providing the younger generation with opportunities to excel.

“The new leadership has demonstrated its potential to steer the business community forward,” Chhaya remarked, underscoring the importance of continuity and mentorship for sustained progress.
