Aamina Sheikh appointed as Global Ambassador for Girls’ Education

ISLAMABAD: PAGE announced Aamina Sheikh as its Global Ambassador for Girls’ Education, the renowned actress, recognized for her extensive work on television and film across a rich diversity of feature films, television series, and telefilms has joined hands with Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education to bridge the gap between educational inequalities in Pakistan, and lead young girls, with fewer opportunities, and poorer backgrounds towards prosperous futures.

PAGE is a strategic organization working towards provision of equal opportunities of education for both genders and mainly focusing upon improving the female literacy rate in Pakistan. PAGE is working towards improving the gender gap through Policy, advocacy, and supporting women entrepreneurship within the education sector. Its work through Aim High initiative in Girls Schools provides a platform to promote female leadership. Under its partnership with American Refugee Committee, PAGE is setting up Star Schools for Girls in some of the most deprived areas of Pakistan.  Star School is an initiative of Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education and is part of the nationwide Out-of-School-Children (OOSC) Program aiming to enrol 1 Million young boys and girls in schools all over Pakistan.

Aamina Sheikh displays her commitment to join Pakistan Alliance for Girls Education campaign to reduce the number of children who are deprived of education in Pakistan as she quotes “One’s life’s purpose must be greater than the self to bring lasting change and impact towards betterment as a whole. Pakistan unfortunately has the second highest number of children who are Out of Education. According to government estimates at least 22.8 million children are currently not attending schools.  PAGE’s Global Ambassador for Girls’ Education campaign will play a key role to support children especially girls across Pakistan who are missing out on their basic human right.
