WCCI South concludes its second AGM successfully

KARACHI: The 2nd Annual General Body Meeting of Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry South successfully concluded here on Sunday, 30 September, 2018 at Movenpick hotel, before a packed audience comprising friends and well-wishers of the newly elected executive committee, media and WCCI members.

WCCI South’s secretary general Shakila Rizvi, the MC of the evening gave a brief background of WCCI South and declared the AGM open. She then invited the outgoing president Rukhsana Abbas to give a brief over-view of her year as president WCCI South. The election commission comprising Shazia Akber, Rabia Basri and Naheed Kamal were then invited to the stage. Rabia Basri spoke about election process after which chief executive Hina Mansab Khan invited the incoming executive committee to take their oath. The new executive committee comprises: President Shaiyanne Malik, Senior Vice President Shanaz Ramzi, Vice President, Nazl iAbid, executive members Afzala Shaheen, Dr Fauzia Hameed, Dr Shaista Effendi, Ghazala Saifi, Iqra Ashar,  Mehreen Mansha, Rabia Sheikh, Shaheen Khan, Shehnaz Banatwala, Rukhsana Abbas, Hina Amir, Fauzia Essa, Farida Kureishi and Naheed Haroon.

After the oath-taking ceremony, bouquets were presented to all the committee members. The newly sworn-in president, Shaiyanne Malik then addressed the audience and spoke of her plans for the year.The chief executive Hina Mansab handed over the documents of the Chamber as per her rules, comprising SECP Compliance, DGTO Lessons, Federation Lessons and all original documents which are regarded as public property to president Shaiyanne Malik. She then addressed the audience after which the AGM was officially declared closed.

Honourable chief guest Begum Laila Sarfaraz, a pioneer and renowned name in the world of commerce and industry was then invited to share her views on the occasion, after which an Awards ceremony took place. Awardees were chief executive Hina Mansab, Farida Qureshi, founder president WCCI South, Rukhsana Abbas former president WCCI South, Naheed Haroon, former SVP, Amna Faraz former Vice President, Begum Laila Sarfaraz, Ghazala Saifi, MNA, Nazli Abid, executive member 2017 for her commendable efforts, Dr Shaista Effendi for her contributions in medicine, Laila Amin, treasurer, and Shehnaz Banatwala, HR Committee. Certificates were given to the Election Commission.

It may be noted that concept behind chamber is to develop women entrepreneurs by encouraging entrepreneurship as a means of economic empowerment. For potential women entrepreneurs, the chamber aims to provide a one-window facility. For established women entrepreneurs, the chamber provides a forum for debate and discussion, opportunity to interact with their local and international counterparts as well as facilities for research and development. WCCI South was founded in 2015 and is the only chamber that has received no financial assistance whatsoever from any governmental or private organization in these four years. News Desk
